CompuTrainer
Coach Wharton has been training on a CompuTrainer Indoor Ergometer since 1995, and with his deep knowledge of the tool he has built training protocols for hundreds of cyclists.
In 2004, after a year of work with Paul Smeulders (developer of the Intellicoach and ErgVideo software for CompuTrainers), Coach Wharton released Watts per Kilogram, a book about how the self-coached athlete can use a CompuTrainer to improve his or her performance. He was asked to lecture at USA Cycling's Coaching Conclave that year on the same subject.
Coach Wharton continues to work with Racermate to promote its products, and has recently agreed with Paul Smeulders to write another book, this one focusing on the benefits of CompuTrainer MultiRider, and the implementation of ErgVideo in to training and coaching programs.
Power Meters
Coach Wharton is in constant contact with several of the global manufacturers of wattage measuring devices, working with them on ways to improve their product, improve customers' understanding of how power measurement improves cycling performance, and lower costs and other barriers to entry and acceptance of wattage as the preeminent way to measure performance on a bike.
